Interlude: A Poem

A Poem I wrote on the Texas Beach, Summer 2012:

The grit in your teeth

Makes you think

You’re the predator you are

Chomping on stones

And dinosaur bones

Millions and millions of years old.

But the ocean recalls

how small

you are

prey

to its waves

and its

deep

deep

strength.
